Eight double Guernsey coins were legal tender and first minted in 1830 they feature the royal seal of king edward the 1st and are one of the oldest coins still minted in the world today. The states of Guernsey used this ancient seal given to the island in 1279 the original seal bore three lions of england and above the seal the word Guernsey in french the legal and everyday language of the island at the time.
The coins are limited to a yearly issue and have the GM mint mark, 999.9 purity mark and year of mintage.
